you say tomayto, I say tomahto

As is the case in everything I do on my life, there are certain people that must immediately question my motives and actions. These people have been doing this to me pretty much my entire life ( so see if you can figure out who they are). That is one of the reasons for starting this blog, because I get to say my piece completely and THEN deal with everyone, instead of having my opinions shot down before they are completely expressed (as in " my opinions are facts, yours are wrong")

So I feel I must comment on the comments that I have been getting concerning the spelling of the good Doctors name. The spelling used is Greunkern for a variety of reasons, which I shall go into now.

1. A little bit of research ( on good old google) will show that when you put in grEUnkern, as I did originally, it asks if you would like to search grUEnkern, but then , I noticed, it still lists sites the correspond to the much loved little green legume ( or bean, or seed, don't comment, I don't really care what it is), so I figured I was safe. However, additional research, by putting in the alternative spelling, and seeing how many sites it brought up, shows that there are 122,000 site hits for grUEnkern, and only 107 for grEUnkern. So I can't lord it over the naysayers that I am correct because "its on the internet, so it must be true and correct". Therefore I go on.

1A. See above, the spelling used herein ( pompous, pompous) is allowable under the google universe, you can look it up yourself.

2. Language is flexible, and as the word is probably German, we can use any variety in English

3. Like all names, there can be differences in spellings that connote the same word, and if it is a name, it does not need to conform to a rigid standard, i.e. Smith, Smyth, Smythe, Schmidt, all indicating the same root word.

4. I like this spelling,

5. There is nothing wrong with being unique, especially on the net, and I don't think someone is going to say , " Hey, I wonder who is blogging under the name Gruenkern, I MUST search RIGHT NOW for it or I will expire!" ( is ICEBERGCARWASH a word??? do people comment that it is REALLY two words??!? I think not)

6. It gives you people something to comment on,

7. and the real reason, I set up the name with this spelling without really thinking about it ( beforehand) or doing the the above mentioned research, and I believe to change it would be too complicated at this point, although I have taken the other blog name as well, with a link to this one ( www.Doctorgruenkern.blogspot.com ) just to make sure that when I hit it big, someone doesn't steal it to reap all the benefits of my work.

So now you have it.

Enjoy

Doktor Greenkern

Spelling it wrong is brilliant. If there are only 107 possibilities it's more likely you'll be found on Google.
