Today is the 21st anniversary of the passing of my grandfather. we had a little get together last night, consisting of three of his sons, four grandsons, two grandson in laws, a granddaughter, granddaughter in law, and three four daughters in law.
Someone mentioned that he had not spoken about him at the gathering, the answer given was, we all knew who he was. I was thinking about this, and his living legacy. Here is what I came up with.
Of the seven direct descendants there, all were EMTs having served or currently serving on volunteer ambulance squads, six have led High Holiday Services, three (that I know of) currently serve on synagogue boards, and that is what is publicly known, and off the top of my head. I am sure there is more that done that I don't even know about.
Enough said, I think.

Ad Biyas HaGoel.
and besides the few members of the family who are baalei tefila, there are close to 100 who daven, put on tefilin, attend minyonim, or daven at home (women) every day. and besides the few hatzala people, there are about 50 or more family members who help other people through their work, chessed, kindness, generosity, tzedoka, etc. it's not all about hatzala and davening for de amud. In addition, One son is a practicing rabbi. other sons and sons in law are talmidei chachomim who have continued to grow in their learning, ruchnius, and midos development. many grandchildren/in law are learning or have learned full time. All involved in tzorchei zibor in some fashion. children, grandchildren, and b'eh great grandchildren who get along, exhibit a simchas hachaim, love for doing mitzvos, grew up/ are growing up in homes where there is torah learning, mitzvos,, etc. going on. THAT is the legacy left by grandparents
Big Sis - obviously, however, I chose to take a tiny sampling by way of example. Opa's legacy was also to do things in an understated way.
